About HECB

The band formed in November 1993 with the object of keeping alive the high standards and traditions of British Military Music.  Based in Winchester the band meets weekly for rehearsal with some members travelling many miles in order to take part.  Members are virtually all ex-servicemen and women although a number of civilian musicians have membership.  The band members provide their own instruments and uniform of Regimental Blazer and Tie.

  Performances at many concert venues have included – The Fairfield Hall, Croydon, City Hall, Salisbury, John Stripe Theatre and Guildhall, Winchester, Cricklade Theatre, Andover, Festival Hall, Petersfield, Fareham Shopping Centre, HMS Collingwood, Beechen Cliff School, Bath, The Romsey Show, Ryde Parish Church, Isle of Wight, Romsey Abbey and the Newbury Races.  The band has also played concerts aboard the Cunard liners QE2 and the Coronia and for the playing away of numerous P&O cruise liners from Southampton.

  A feature of the band’s work has been in assisting charities in their fundraising, many charities have benefited including – SSAFA, CAFOD, St Dunstan’s, Leukemia Research, Mayor of Test Valleys Charities, The Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust, The Wessex Childrens Hospice, The Royal British Legion, The Macmillan Nurse Appeal, The Royal Star & Garter Home, The Stroke Association, The Countess of Brecknock’s Hospice, The Pinder Centre, The Children of Kosovo Appeal, The Childrens Society, Cancer Research, the Ickn ield Trust and a large number of others.

  The Band is self financed relying upon donations and engagement fees to cover essential running costs. Further details regarding the band can be obtained from the Director of Music.
